Honor our heroes with an unforgettable experience

This Memorial Day (May 26th, 2025) Delta Air Lines and Foundation Connect5 are offering YOU the opportunity to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Washington DC!

This is your chance to honor the heroes who have liberated our country eighty years ago and learn from their experiences. By offering this unique opportunity, Delta Air Lines and Connect5 want to ensure that the legacy of our liberators will be remembered and passed on for generations to come.

What you can win:

·       Round-trip airfare to Washington DC for two persons plus two nights’ accommodation in Washington DC (please note that if you are below 18 years of age, you will need to travel with a parent/legal guardian);

·       Access to Memorial Day events, including a private meeting with a decorated war veteran who has helped liberate our country 80 years ago;

·       A tour of the iconic landmarks of Washington DC, including Arlington National Cemetery, the Vietnam Memorial, the White House, the Capitol etc.

To enter, please submit a short essay in English (one page A4 maximum) on what freedom means to you, including what you would like to say to a veteran who has helped liberate our country 80 years ago and how you would like to contribute to a more peaceful world as part of the next generation. Please submit your essay no later than Friday, November 15th to inhua.stichtingconnect5@gmail.com.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their case to an international jury in the first half of December. You will be assisted by an experienced professional to help you prepare for your presentation. The winner will be announced during an award ceremony on Friday December 20th at Connect5, Markt 5 in Meerssen.

Please note: We encourage especially young people to enter this challenge. Those who will honor the liberators and continue their legacy by hearing their stories and passing them on. Because the veterans speak English, sufficient knowledge of spoken English is needed. However, please do not let this discourage you to apply: the originality of your ideas and thoughts will be leading in the selection process. If you find it difficult to write a short essay in English, you can also submit a one-minute video explaining your thoughts. Please include your name, age and contact details as part of your application.
